Make the most of your summer: Dublin

As summer is fast approaching (wahoo!) it’s time to make the most of your days off.

So if you’re tired of sunbathing through an open window or just Getting cabin fever, here’s three cheap and wonderful things to do.

1. Powerscourt Estate and Waterfall.

Easily accessible from Dublin City and only a stones throw from Bray, Powerscourt offers an abundance of natural beauty with scenic walks especially if you choose to visit Powerscourt Waterfall (Ireland Highest Waterfall!!). At the Estate and Gardens there is plenty to do for those not wishing to venture down to the waterfall. There are beautifully maintained gardens, the Pepperpot Tower, and for those looking for a much more relaxed and tranquil walk there are the trails through the hidden and secret woodlands! These trails wind through the ancient trees of the carefully protected Estate where you can enjoy the serenity of the River Dargle (Just as the Viscount of Powerscourt did back in the 1800’s)

2. The heart of Celtic Ireland – The Boyne Valley

If quiet Japanese gardens and river walks aren’t quite your thing, why not delve yourself into Ireland’s Celtic past with a trip through the Boyne Valley. It is here that the High Kings of Ireland reigned over the Island of Ireland (sometimes with not much authority!) and still to this day you can visit areas such as the Hill of Tara and see views which the likes of Brian Boru and Domnall ua Néill would have set their eyes upon.

3. The Kildare Maze

Have kids that are full of energy? Want to experience an exciting and challenging day out? The Kildare Maze may be perfect for you! Just outside of Prosperous (Co. Kildare) Leinster’s largest hedge maze will definitely not break the bank and also the hedge maze is not the only thing to do there! Yes, there is more! You can also play a round or two of crazy golf, enjoy a well-earned break in the picnic area or even test your skills and moxie with the adventure trail and zip wire!
