Kendra has been working with Hassle.com since we launched in Birmingham last year.
Not only is she an amazing five-star cleaner but she has now become a published author! Her book, “It’s All About You” is out now out on Amazon.
We caught up with Kendra to find out just how she managed to juggle working with Hassle.com whilst also finding the time to write a book.
Congratulations on the book Kendra – that’s amazing – we’re so happy for you! Can you tell us a little about it?
Thank you! The book is called “It’s All About You” and it draws on advice (and my own experiences) that I’ve been given by others on how to improve the running of your life, essentially. The book is divided into 4 main sections: Nutrition, Fitness, The Arts, and Travel, and the book focusses on how those 4 interlink and the ways that each of them can improve your day-to-day life.
Sounds like I need to download this right away! What made you think about writing a book?
Gosh, it’s a long story (I’ll try keep it short!). It all started when I decided that I wanted to give up smoking. I thought at the time that this would a small change to my life, maybe a little more money in my pocket and I’d feel a bit healthier, you know, but it changed my life completely. I had loads more energy and I felt so much better about myself!
I started getting really into fitness because of it, and I already knew how to eat healthy as I studied nutrition at University. Basically, I want people to read the book so I can educate them on the things I learnt, and so that they can make all these little tiny changes to their day-to-day life and hopefully feel great about themselves too!
That’s great. So how does it feel to be a published author?
Oh it feels amazing! Obviously, with this being my first book, I wasn’t prepared for how long everything would take, but I had some excellent advice and help from others which made it all possible. I’m really pleased to have it all done, it was so worth it.
Was it difficult to find time to write whilst also working with us as a cleaner?
Oh, definitely. Cleaning is a very physical job, so I’d often come in from work at the end of the day knackered. The method I found best was to jot things down on a notebook while I was at work and then, when I had more free time on a different day, I could come back to the notebook and fill the ideas out into something I could use for the book.
Do you think the Hassle.com works well for someone trying to do other things whilst also wanting a normal income?
100%! The ability to choose your hours means that it’s easy to work the job around other stuff you may want to do in life. It’s very flexible and I feel like a lot of other cleaning companies don’t really care that much when it comes to the wellbeing of their staff, whereas I think Hassle.com genuinely have the cleaners best interest in mind. I feel like Hassle.com really do trust their cleaners to be able to flourish independently.
That’s lovely to hear. Now, the burning question Kendra, where can we buy your book?
You can find it on Amazon by searching for “It’s All About You” by Kendra J Thompson. You can get a copy for £3.99 here.
