Last week I met one of our ‘OG’ cleaners and winner of our coveted ‘Cleaner of The Month’ Award, Melanie Ward for a coffee and a catch-up.
It’s safe to say that Melanie is an expert cleaner who has been a part of the Hassle.com family from the very start and not to mention, one of our greatest characters!
With consistent five star reviews from her customers, who love her down-to-earth personality and skilful cleaning, it was no surprise to my colleagues that I jumped at the opportunity to meet her.
Braving the chilly weather one afternoon, Melanie and I met outside a café in Melanie’s neighbourhood. We spoke of all things cleaning, Hassle.com, motherhood, music and how working with Hassle.com has enabled her to realise her own personal dreams.
So, Melanie, you’re quite unique in the sense that you’ve been with Hassle.com since the beginning! Why did you choose to work with Hassle.com in the first place?
I guess I felt that you guys really provide a fair deal when it comes to connecting cleaners with customers. You don’t charge extortionate agency fees, which are a blessing, and I really feel like you guys have my back!
With a job like cleaning, which can be quite a lonely job, it’s great to have that support available and you’re just a phone call away.
Well, we really appreciate your work! Would you say working as a self-employed cleaner has made a positive impact on your life in general?
Definitely. I’m currently pursuing a qualification in Business and the flexible hours that Hassle.com can provide has enabled me to build my work-life around my studies, which is a real positive!
We’re thrilled you’re able to follow your passion!
Thank-you! Being an entrepreneur and starting my very own business is something I’m very much interested in and it’s just great to have the time to apply myself to my course, whilst earning money at the same time.
So what do you get up to in your spare time?
I love entertaining! I love to socialise and my friends and family are a big part of my life. I feel like I’m forever throwing parties and cooking for people. I also like to travel too. I have family in New York and Barbados (which has to be my favourite holiday destination) so I like to get out of The Big Smoke when I can to visit them.
That sounds amazing! I have to admit, I would much rather be sunning myself in Barbados right now, it’s freezing in London. Would you say you were a music fan?
It’s beautiful in Barbados. I highly recommend making the trip if you can! I’m a massive music fan. I love listening to Earth, Wind and Fire, Marvin Gaye, Donna Summer…all of the oldies!
Aah you’re a disco fan! It’s no secret that Hassle.com are a fan of cheesy music. You should check out The Hassle.com Spotify Playlist if you get a chance, we’re always updating it!
I’ll have to check that out!
Melanie, it has been a delight to chat with you. Enjoy your champagne and chocolates!
